Certificate in Biblical Interpretation

Program Description

At Cloud Theological Institute, we recognize the vital importance of returning to our foundation—the Bible. Through our understanding of God’s Word and our collective experience, we have identified a pressing need in today’s global context for sound biblical interpretation. This practice involves reading, observing, interpreting, and applying Scripture to both personal and communal contexts.

In response, we proudly offer our cornerstone program: the Certificate in Biblical Interpretation. This two-year, six-course program is designed to equip students as interpreters of God’s Word. The program’s foundational course, Hermeneutics, introduces our Interpreting the Word method—a step-by-step framework for accurately interpreting any passage of Scripture.

Upon completing the Hermeneutics course, students select five elective courses tailored to their interests and ministry needs. These electives integrate the Interpreting the Word method with critical theological disciplines, such as biblical exegesis, biblical theology, systematic theology, and practical theology. By the end of the program, students not only gain skills in interpreting Scripture but also deepen their understanding of key theological truths essential for faithful ministry and application.

For the Spring 2025 semester, we’re excited to offer Introduction to the Old Testament Prophets, available in both formats—live sessions or on-demand learning.

Each course is thoughtfully designed and includes the following components:

  • 12 workshops: These feature brainstorming discussions, interactive lectures, and reflection sessions to deepen your understanding and engagement with the material.

  • 12 practical assignments: These assignments are directly related to the course topic and integrate our Interpreting the Word method.

  • 1 course project: Students will apply the Interpreting the Word method to a specific Scripture passage and present it in a practical context, such as preaching, teaching, leading a small group, or delivering a family devotional.

  • 2 exams: These assessments ensure mastery of the material covered in the course.
