Covenant Theology
Purpose
The purpose of this course is to introduce you to the concept, structure, & major covenants of the Holy Scriptures.
Course Description
This course introduces you to the meaning & concept of covenant, the Biblical covenantal structure, & the major covenants of the Old & New Testament. For each of the Biblical covenants, we will focus on exegeting one primary passage of Scripture. We will then make connections with other supporting texts. Students will have weekly assignments with questions that highlight exegetical significances, theological significances, & practical preaching & teaching conclusions such as homiletical outlines & propositions. The major paper will be an applied exegetical, sermonic paper in which the you will apply the hermeneutical method to one covenantal passage of Scripture.

To understand & to explain the meaning and concept of the word covenant along with its related original language words
To understand & to explain the major fundamental covenants along with their interrelationships
To learn one major passage of Scripture for each covenant
To learn the primary aspects of the New Covenant
To be able to prepare a sermon by interpreting accurately one of the covenantal passages

Covenant of Creation - Genesis 1-3
In this session we exegete Hosea 6:7 & Isaiah 24:5 showing the specificity & comprehensive nature of the covenant with Adam. It is a covenant of works which was broken by Adam and the Covenant of Creation which laws bind all creatures to their creator.
