What We Believe

Students who enroll intending to receive a certificate through our programs must subscribe to our statement of faith. Our historical, theological, guiding documents are the Westminster Standards

About Our Purpose & God’s Word

We believe that our purpose in life is to glorify God & to enjoy him forever. God teaches us how to do this in the Bible, His written word. He has given this to us through the inspiration of His Spirit & the incarnation of His Son, the Living Word. It is without error in its purpose, word, & message. Therefore, we have certainty in its reliability, and we submit to its authority. (John 1:1–18; 1 Corinthians 10:31; Philippians 4:4; 2 Timothy 3:16–17; 2 Peter 1:15–21)

About The Triune God

We believe that God is a Spirit, infinite, eternal, unchangeable, independent, all powerful, all knowing, all present in all that he is. He is one God but in three persons, the Father the Son, & the Holy Spirit. He is our creator, sustainer, redeemer & sanctifier. (Exodus 34:6–7; John 1:1–18; Revelation 1:4–8)

About Creation

We believe that God made the heavens & the earth and all that is in them. He sustains & directs all of them by the word of His mouth, & he relates to all his creation through covenant. (Genesis 1:1–2:3; Isaiah 24:5–6; Jeremiah 31:31–37; 33:14–21; John 1:1–5; Hebrews 1:2; 11:3; 2 Peter 3:5)

About Man’s Creation & Nature

We believe that God created man, male & female, in his own image, in knowledge, righteousness, holiness, and he entered a covenant of life with him upon the only condition of obedience to His Law. (Genesis 1:26–30; 2:4–24; Hosea 6:7; Ephesians 4:24)

About Man’s Fall

We believe that Adam willfully disobeyed God’s law & fell into a state of guilt. This state brought God’s judgment, which is death, corruption of the body in thought, word, & deed. This state is credited not just to Adam but to all his offspring. All of us, being Adam’s children, are in a state of death, are by nature children of disobedience & can do nothing to please God. (Genesis 3:14–24; Romans 3:10–21; Ephesians 2:1–4; 4:17–19)

About Man’s Lord & Savior

We believe that God saved us only because of his grace through Jesus Christ the LORD & the blood of the eternal covenant. He is God’s eternal Son whom He sent into the world. He was born of a virgin, born under the law. He lived a righteous, obedient life. He died on the cross for our sins. He was resurrected with an incorruptible physical body & exalted to the right hand of God. He reigns over all creation & is the head of his church. (Isaiah 52:13–53:12; 1 Corinthians 15:1–6; Ephesians 1:19–23; 2:4–10; Hebrews 1:1–4; 13:20–21)

About Man’s Response

We believe that our response to God’s work in the gospel of Christ is to turn with grief & hatred away from our sinful lifestyle & to cling & to rest upon Jesus Christ alone for salvation. Upon believing in him, we are brought into union with Christ by which all of his benefits are given to us through His Spirit. These include adoption as sons & daughters of God, justification, sanctification, glorification & life forevermore in the presence of God. (Mark 1:14–15; Romans 5:1–12; 8:28–30; 10:9–13; Ephesians 1:3–14)

About the Christian Life

We believe that upon faith, we are to obey God’s law in faith. God’s law is fundamentally the greatest commands to love God with our whole being and to love our neighbor as ourselves. These are good works, which do not save us but merely evidence the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives, His work being evidenced through the fruits of the Spirit. (Mark 12:29–32; Romans 1:16–17; 1 Corinthians 15:1–2; Ephesians 2:8–10)

About the Church

We believe that the church is Christ’s body, which was established upon his ascension through His Spirit. It has been given the task of discipling the nations through the ministry of the Word & exercising the ordinances of baptism & Lord’s supper. Being Christ’s body, the church is to serve their local communities where ever it is present, both physically & most importantly spiritually. The church includes all individuals since creation who put their faith in the promises of God, whose fulfillment is Christ. All of these individuals are in union with Christ & receive all of Christ’s benefits by faith. (Matthew 28:18–20; Acts 1:7–8; 2:42; Ephesians 1:19–23)

About the End of Days

We believe that Jesus Christ will return in glory a second time to rapture his church, to resurrect the dead, to judge the world, to punish the wicked, to reward the saints & to reign on earth forevermore. (Matthew 24–25; 1 Thessalonians 4:13–17; Revelation 11:15–18; 21–22)

About the Contemporary Issues

We believe in the historical, traditional, Judeo-Christian interpretations concerning human male & female nature, marriage & sexuality. We believe that God created one human race, that every human being is equal & valuable in the sight of God being made in the image of God, that we all are in a sinful state personally & corporately in Adam, that this fall has impacted humanity & creation spiritually & physically, that we are all to repent of any & all sin & that the church is the holy realm of God where all peoples regardless of skin color, ethnicity, nationality, gender or age are welcome, respected & being transformed & conformed to the image of God’s Son spiritually now & physically in the future. (Genesis 1:27–31; 2:23–24; Matthew 19:4–6; Romans 8:29)
